Dallas City Park
The town's largest park at 35 acres, with a Japanese garden, the Delbert Hunter Arboretum of native Oregon plants, playgrounds, an 18-hole disc golf course and a creek swimming hole.
Dallas is where I live and where most of my business happens. Whether you're buying your first home, moving here from out of the area, or selling a home you've loved for years, you deserve a clear plan and someone who knows this town street by street.

Dallas is the county seat of Polk County, about 15 miles west of Salem at the edge of the Coast Range foothills. The town is named after George Mifflin Dallas, vice president under James K. Polk, the same president the county is named for.
The heart of town is the Polk County Courthouse, finished in 1900 and still in use, with its clock tower looking over a downtown where most of the buildings date from about 1880 to 1910. Rickreall Creek runs right through town, and you can be on a country road or a trail within a few minutes of almost any neighborhood.
It's the kind of place where you run into people you know at the grocery store, the football game, or the park, and I love that about it.
The town's largest park at 35 acres, with a Japanese garden, the Delbert Hunter Arboretum of native Oregon plants, playgrounds, an 18-hole disc golf course and a creek swimming hole.
A multi-use trail along Rickreall Creek that links several city parks, great for a morning walk, run or bike ride.
Five pools, a waterslide and a spray fountain, with lap swim, open swim and lessons year-round.
Antique shops, local restaurants, coffee and the courthouse square. Summer brings Dallas Days and the Sounds of Summer concert series, and the Polk County Fair is just down the road in Rickreall each August.
Nearly 2,500 acres of wetlands, oak woodland and trails a short drive northeast, home to wintering geese and the rare Fender's blue butterfly.
Dallas is a great town for golfers, with a quick executive course for weeknights, a full 18 for the weekend, and more courses just across the river in Salem and Keizer.
A public 9-hole executive course on Orrs Corner Road, just east of Dallas, open since 1990. Short par 3s and medium-length par 4s make it perfect for working on your short game or getting someone new into golf.
A public 18-hole, par-72 course of about 6,900 yards on Highway 22, with valley views, practice facilities and lessons. Open year-round.
A classic tree-lined public 18-hole course in South Salem dating to the late 1920s, just across the river from Polk County.
An 18-hole championship course on about 150 acres in Keizer, just north of Salem, open since 1962.
If you want a club membership, two great private options are close by in South Salem. Creekside Golf Club has more than 80 bunkers and a Scottish links-style back nine, and Illahe Hills Country Club is a traditional tree-lined course designed by William F. Bell that opened in 1961.
Polk County sits on the west side of the Willamette Valley, one of the best Pinot Noir regions in the world, and the Eola-Amity Hills are right next door. A few of my personal favorites anywhere in Polk County are Andante, Van Duzer and Zenith.
One of my personal favorites. A small family vineyard and tasting room on Morris Road in Dallas, in the Van Duzer Corridor.
One of my favorites. A family estate in the Dallas foothills, founded in 1998 at the mouth of the Van Duzer Corridor, known for Pinot Noir and sweeping valley views.
Another of my favorites. A family-run estate in the Eola-Amity Hills, with more than 80 acres of vines and a beautiful event ballroom that's popular for weddings.
A Dallas winery with two tasting rooms, just a few minutes off Highway 99W between Dallas, Monmouth and Rickreall.
A family winery near Dallas offering wine tastings and, unusually, grapeseed oil tastings too.
A Dallas-area winery known for traditional winemaking, including some wines made entirely by hand without electricity.
An estate winery in Rickreall with a tasting room and expansive grounds, about 10 minutes from Dallas, Monmouth and Independence.
Dallas has a little bit of everything, which is one reason buyers from Salem, Portland and out of state keep finding it:
My Dallas sales in 2025 and 2026 ranged from about $165,000 to nearly $900,000, on both the listing and buying side, so I've seen how every part of this market works.
We start with a conversation. What you want, your timeline, and what matters most to you. I listen first.
I build a plan around your goals and give you the Dallas-specific information you need to decide with confidence: pricing, neighborhoods, schools, and what to watch for.
Whether that's marketing your home with professional photos and brochures or finding the right house before anyone else, I handle the details and keep you updated every step.
He had beautiful photos and brochures made, and his sign up within the first week… we had an offer on the 12th day of listing… our home sold at asking price.
He is knowledgeable of the area and it's always nice when a realtor grew up in the area so they can tell you exactly what it is.
We were relocating from another state… When we did find a home (to be built) he would visit the site, send us photos during construction and keep us updated.
They will always remember the Christmas that Santa hand delivered their keys to their new house!
I never felt rushed or pressured. Jesse always took the time to explain things thoroughly and answer all my questions.
I am incredibly grateful for the support and guidance Jesse provided throughout my recent sale and purchase.

Many people love Dallas for its small-town feel, historic downtown, parks and easy access to Salem, about 15 miles east. It has its own school district, an aquatic center, 11 city parks, two nearby public golf courses, and quick access to the Coast Range foothills and Willamette Valley wine country.
Yes. Dallas Golf Club, just east of town on Orrs Corner Road, is a public 9-hole executive course. Cross Creek Golf Course on Highway 22 is a public 18-hole, par-72 course of about 6,900 yards. Salem Golf Club and McNary Golf Club are a short drive away, and Creekside Golf Club and Illahe Hills Country Club in South Salem are private options.
Jesse Peterson's personal favorites in Polk County are Andante Vineyard, Van Duzer Vineyards and Zenith Vineyard. Other wineries close to Dallas include Namaste Vineyards, Chateau Bianca Winery, Illahe Vineyards and Left Coast Estate in nearby Rickreall.
Dallas is served by the Dallas School District, which includes LaCreole Middle School and Dallas High School, home of the Dragons. School boundaries can change, so Jesse recommends confirming the assigned schools for any specific address with the district.
Dallas is about 15 miles west of Salem, roughly a 25-minute drive. The Oregon Coast is a little over an hour west, and Portland is about an hour and a half north.
